Wash and dry the sweet potatoes to get off any dirt and debris that was left on them.
Pierce them 3-4 times with a fork. Be careful not to poke yourself!
Put the sweet potatoes on your baking sheet and place in the oven for 1 hour or until fork tender. You want to be able to easily slide your fork in with no resistance.
Once the sweet potatoes are done, set aside to cool down before handling them. Approximately 1 hour.
When you are ready to put the dish together, preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C)
With the sweet potatoes cooled, you can now remove the skins. They should easily peel off.
Then cut butter into cubes and place in the square baking dish.
Evenly distribute the butter around the sweet potatoes.
Sprinkle the light brown sugar, then top with mini marshmallows.
Put in the oven for about 20 minutes. You want the yams to be hot, butter and sugar melted, and the marshmallows browned on top.
Remove from the oven, let cool for about 5 min (so you don’t burn yourself).
