Home made Simple syrup is quick and easy to make. A great staple for making cocktails, or adding to your tea.

This basic sweetening ingredient is surprisingly expensive when buying at the grocery store yet easy and inexpensive to make at home.  All you need is a couple ingredients and 10 min of your time.

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Saucepan: We use a small pan about 1 quart in size.
  • Food safe storage container: We use a small/medium size squeeze bottle.  You can also use a food safe jar instead.

Ingredients:

  • Water: Filtered water
  • Sugar: Granulated Cane sugar

How to make the Simple Syrup:

  1.  Combine water and sugar in a small saucepan and set heat to medium low, stirring often.
  2. The mixture will be cloudy at first then as it heats up the sugar will dissolve and become clear.
  3. When you see small bubbles on the side of the pan and the mixture has become clear, turn the heat off and let cool.
  4. Once cooled, transfer syrup to a food safe squeeze bottle or jar.
  5. Add the syrup to your favorite drink and enjoy!
