Need something quick and easy that will keep your belly full? This strawberry chocolate protein smoothie will be just what you need!

This is a great go-to smoothie that is super simple and with only four ingredients: water, milk, frozen strawberries, and chocolate protein powder.  Smoothies tend to take a break in our house during the winter months, but now that it is becoming warmer, our kids have started requesting more of these.

One of the great things about this smoothie is that it’s easy to change up and customize.  We’ll have on hand various frozen berries in the freezer that we can pull out at any time to whip one up.

For the protein powder we use chocolate, but if you have vanilla, that can work too (it’ll just be a vanilla, strawberry smoothie!  You can add other fruit like a banana if you want a little more flavor as well.  If ice is in short supply, buying the fruit already frozen helps to not use any ice.  When you only have fresh fruit on hand, that is no problem!  You will want to use about 1 cup of ice to supplement.

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Blender: We use a vitamix blender. comparable model shown here

Ingredients:

  • Milk: We use lactose free milk in our home, though you can use any type of milk you want! (soy, almond, 2%, etc…)
  • Filtered Water
  • Protein Powder: This recipe calls for chocolate flavored protein powder, but if you have Vanilla, that also works.
  • Frozen Strawberries: Using pre-frozen strawberries works best for this recipe. If you only have fresh, add a cup of ice to your blender.

How to make the Smoothie:

  1.  In a blender, pour in the milk, water, protein powder, and frozen strawberries.  Putting the ingredients in the blender in this order helps to prevent clumping and needing to start, stop, and stir multiple times.
  2. Start blending!  Begin on the lowest setting for your blender and slowly increase the speed.  While there should be little to no clumping, there might be some air pockets. If this happens, stop your blender, get a spatula (or spoon), stir for a moment to release the air pocket. Then remove the spatula (or spoon) and start the blender again.
  3. Repeat the last step until all ingredients are thoroughly blended.
  4. If this smoothie is a bit too thick for you and want to thin it out, add a tablespoon of water until you get the consistency you like.
  5. There you have it! A delicious chocolate strawberry protein smoothie.
