Hard and Soft boiled eggs are so easy to make, and great addition to soups, sandwiches, or to have for breakfast as is!

When making either a hard-boiled egg or a soft boiled egg, you can use these instructions as more of guidelines to reference as the number of eggs you want to make can vary.

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Medium Pot: We use a 2-3 quart sized pot for this. It allows us to have ample space for the water and eggs as well as extra room at the top so there is no chance of it overflowing.
  • Medium- Large Sized Mixing Bowl: This will depend on how many eggs you are making.
  • Food safe storage container: We use a tall, cylindrical food safe container. Make sure to fully wash and dry the container before use (especially if it is new).

Ingredients:

  • Eggs: You can make as little or as many as you’d like
  • Water: Filtered water.  The measurements will be approximations as the amount needed will depend on how many eggs you make.
  • Ice

How to make the Hard and Soft Boiled Eggs:

For Hard Boiled:

  1.  Place the eggs in a medium or large pot (depending on how many you are cooking) and fill with enough cold water to cover the eggs.
  2. Set the stove to medium high heat and let it come to a rolling boil
  3. Then once boiling, turn the heat off and cover for 12 min.
  4. While you wait for the eggs, grab a large bowl and fill halfway with ice and cold water.
  5. When the timer goes off, carefully scoop out the eggs and place them in your bowl of ice and water.
  6. Set a timer for 5 min to allow the eggs to cool down.  This stops them from cooking longer.
  7. Now you can peel the eggs and enjoy!
  8. Can be kept in the fridge for approximately 1 week.

For Soft Boiled:

  1. In a medium saucepan add enough water so it will cover the eggs once added.
  2. Set the stove to medium high heat and let it come to a rolling boil.
  3. Once the water is boiling, carefully add in the eggs one by one.  I use a ladle to gently place them in.
  4. Cover and let the eggs boil for 6 minutes.
  5. After 6 minutes, turn the heat off and place the eggs in an ice water bath for 5 min.  This stops them from cooking longer and keeps the gooey center.
  6. Peel and enjoy when you are ready to eat! Eat these with your favorite ramen or marinate them to have with a bowl of rice.
